The Joys Of Redneckdom

October 7, 2009

My last table on a Thursday night, 10 people all paying together,
slightly redneckish, but overall I thought it was going to be a pretty
good table (thanks to added gratuity). My one mistake was that I
didn’t realize I was the main redneck’s bitch for the night and was
not bringing him his Bud Light fast enough.

He went to the bar and complained that I was no where to be seen (I
was literally ten feet away from him cleaning off another table). I
put on my best server smile and got through the rest of the dinner.
When I give them the bill, they are obviously displeased. They start
screaming, I get my manager, and they proceed to hurl racial insults
(she’s Asian, oh, and pregnant) against her.

At this point, I’m done with the rudeness, and yell, “Get the fuck
out of the restaurant.” More heated comments are exchanged but they
finally pay (but not the gratuity) and I have never seen them since.
If I do, my foot will be shoved so far up that man’s ass he will be
able to lick my toenails.

I am paid to be your server, not your servant.

i totally understand where u are coming from. i once had a lady call me her servant. i was beyond irate, but in the corporate world, as we know, the customer’s always right. BULLSHIT and they know it, so take advantage. i manage a restaurant now, and unfortunately its a company that will do ANYTHING to make you happy and the angrier the customer is, the more free shit they’ll get. not to mention, most of these troublesome trash are usually 300+ lbs. UNACCEPTABLE!

The sad part is, she got away with it BECAUSE they abused the manager too. Seems to be the way… abuse the serving staff as much as you want, but share that abuse with management? TOTALLY unacceptable, people get kicked out and/or cops are called. Talk about feeling like a second class citizen.

Where I work using a racial slur will get you kicked out of the restaurant. Someone fifty-something got asked to leave for saying N. You should’ve seen the look on his face when the manager informed him that he had to leave. “Why, in all my years!”

Ugh, I HATE hicks. And while racists get kicked out of restaurants in civilized places, I have to deal with racists all the time; because Fuckushima, Japan is the nastiest hickville of all. I advise all travellers to the Tohoku area of Japan to only go to Sendai and maybe Morioka.

Mike~ If this helps you any, I had a woman who was trying to drink underage at the first restaurant that I have ever worked at. When I had a manager intervene (very nicely I might add. He’s an old man who looks like everyone’s grandpa) she got so angry they tried to walk out on the appetizer that they had already ordered and the food that I had already rung in. When I confronted her she started cursing at me telling me that I was rude for getting a manager to tell her that if she didn’t have her ID she wasn’t allowed to drink and that I was being disrepectful and that I “was there to serve” her. All the while she is screaming at me she is coming at me (I’m five foot nothing and she had at least 6-7inches on me) pointing at me and I just put my hands up in the I surrender pose. I then calmly informed her that I was not there to serve her illegally. By then my manager came back out and when she told him that she would never tell her friends to come there again his response was “good, I don’t want to see anyone associated with you ever again. Get the hell out of my restaurant!” I was classic!
