Today at work, I had two umpires sit in my section. One was in his
early 30s, the other around in his early 50s. I’m required to suggest
a new item on the menu, which today was any of our new Kobe Burgers.
The younger man looks up at me after I mention the burger and says “I
dont like the lakers” and smiles.
I laugh and tell them I will be right back with their drinks. When I
come back, the younger man asks me more about the Kobe burgers. I tell
him that it is japanese inspired where the cows are fed organically
and they even massage the cows. He immediately stopped me saying
“Kaylyn, Kaylyn, Kaylyn… it’s a bit too early to be talking about
massaging meat. We’ll talk about that later: pound it.” And held out
his fist for me to bump it. I bumped it, not wanting to leave him
hanging, but felt super awkward as I turned around and left.
After having them camp in my section for three hours, they finally
left. The man threw a paper napkin rose in his beer bottle and gave it
to me on their way out. I was left with a $5 tip and my very own beer
garden with a number in it. Needless to say, it’s on its way to the
dumpster and I will never talk about Kobe beef again.

It’s funny how clever some guys think they are when in reality, they’re just inappropriate.
One question: did you call it Kobe , as in the Lakers’ player? Because it is pronounced Koh-beh in Japanese instead of the American Koh-bee. Sorry, mispronounciation is my pet peeve. :/
Sounds like the young guy just wanted to sound smart though…and just ended up sounding stupid. I would have left him hanging.
