This isn’t about working at a restaurant, but one of my experiences
going to one.
I went out to eat with a couple of my friends and my boyfriend (note:
my friends had picked the restaurant in the first place) and we got
all settled and had already ordered our drinks and food, when they
decided that they no longer wanted to eat at the restaurant anymore.
They actually got up and gave the waitress a lousy excuse on why they
had to cancel their orders, and left. My boyfriend and I stayed, but
were completely embarrassed by them. Who orders food at a restaurant
and then just leaves?
We tipped that waitress very well because we felt horrible about my
friends’ rudeness.

I am consistently amazed by how people do not think beyond theirself. We see this a lot workung in service industries. You did the kind thing!
Respect. It takes alot of courage to stay at the restaurant after your friends embarrassed you like that; and you’ve even tried to correct their wronging,. I hope you found better friends, or at least that your current ones learn some manners.
I’m sure that any restaurant person who has read this has wished upon you two alot of good dining karma.
